2018 Walter Award Winner
Adult with AwardThe Franklin B Walter Outstanding Educator Award Recipient from the SST Region 6 area is Tyler Burklund.

Tyler is current Program Director of the Center for Autism and Dyslexia in Lima, advocating for students, their families and the staff helping to increase programs, awareness, and acceptance into the community with public school districts as well as the community at large.

Tyler is a Certified Autism Specialist and Board Certified Cognitive Specialist and a member of the Allen County Transition Council. He developed and implemented transition programming called GREAT, Getting the Right Education for the Adult Transition. Tyler recruits, trains and manages a broad array of professions to ensure the adequate and appropriate services are being provided to each student. He also collaborates with Ohio State – Lima and Rhodes State College to provide field day for Center for Autism and Dyslexia students and provide field opportunities for students in the education, early childhood education and occupational therapy assistant and exercise programs at the colleges.
