Presentation Description:
If you know one person with CHARGE, you know one person with CHARGE. There is so much variability in how CHARGE is expressed in a person that it is difficult to generalize from one person to another. And yet, as a specific syndrome there is commonality. This is part of what makes CHARGE so interesting. We will review the “basics” of CHARGE, and then some of the interesting complications, including behavioral issues and social-emotional development.
Speaker/Facilitator:
Dr. Hartshorne, a parent of a child with deafblindness and professor at Central Michigan University, is well known for his work and research with children who are deafblind and their families. His areas of interest and investigation include issues related to CHARGE Syndrome, and deafblindness including behavior, sleep, play, anxiety, mindful interventions, and how parents and families cope with a child with severe disabilities.
