Session 1: Considering Children who are Deafblind and Academically On-Track October 26, 2022, 3:00 – 4:30 pm (ET)

Segment One consists of a 30-minute recorded segment, followed by 15 minutes of discussion.

Overview: This section will discuss the characteristics of children who are variously termed “proficient communicators,” “academically on track,” “high-functioning children who are DB,” and so on. So, who are these children, how do they differ from other children who are deafblind, and what might their specific needs be? Outcome: Participants will consider some characteristics of this group as high-functioning children who are deafblind and how this may dictate their needs.
