This year's senior class is officially the first class to graduate using Ohio's Long Term Graduation Requirements. While these requirements have been out for some time, there are still a lot of questions, especially about students with disabilities. Ohio's graduation rate for students with disabilities is one of the lowest in the country. When a student with disabilities graduates via a pathway that is different than their peers, they no longer meet the Federal Graduation definition. These alternate pathways can still count towards Ohio's graduation requirements but will be reflected in a district's Special Education Performance Profile (SPP) Indicator 1.
This professional development will cover the basics of Ohio's Graduation Requirements and focus on how a district can support students with disabilities in meeting the new requirements. Information will also be provided on Federal Graduation Rate and how districts can work to improve their percentage for their SPP and Local Report Card.
