Target Audience: Preschool Teachers, paraprofessionals, preschool supervisors
Looking for evidence-based early literacy strategies to increase literacy and language skills within your preschool children? This three-part series will build participants' knowledge in the critical components (phonological awareness, oral language, vocabulary, and print awareness).
During the three in-person sessions, participants will learn strategies to implement within their classroom in the core instruction (Tier 1), as well as during intervention groups (Tier 2) and to meet the needs of individual children (Tier 3).
After the first session, participants will implement an early literacy assessment on at least two students and reflect on the process. Between sessions, participants will implement strategies then reflect in their journal six times throughout the series. Participants will receive 19.5 contact hours; which includes three in-person sessions, reading articles, assessing at least two students, implementation of early literacy strategies, and reflecting six times in a journal. Participants must attend all three sessions and complete the requirements to receive the 19.5 contact hours.
