EVENT DETAILS

Safety Assessment and Intervention Trainings
Starting 3/31/2021
Event Groups:
• State Support Team 6 - District Events
Description:

The Ohio Department of Education is partnering with Sandy Hook Promise to provide Safety Assessment and Intervention, one of the Sandy Hook Promise’s proven Know the Signs programs, at no cost to districts and schools in the 2020-2021 school year. Due to the COVID–19 pandemic, trainings will be offered virtually during this school year.

Safety Assessment and Intervention (SAI) teaches multi-disciplinary school teams how to identify, assess, and respond to threats of violence or at-risk behavior before a tragedy takes place. These virtual workshops will allow school threat assessment teams to brainstorm and process how to handle new types of safety circumstances due to remote learning. Breakout rooms, polls, and other e-learning features will create an engaging virtual workspace so that participants can experience similar benefits to in-person training.

Districts interested in participating in an upcoming training should visit the Ohio Department of Education’s Threat Assessment Training webpage. Any additional questions may be directed to the Office of Integrated Student Supports at [email protected] or 614-466-2945.
