All children—not just those with challenging behaviors—require guidance as they develop the social and emotional skills they will use for the rest of their lives. Research demonstrates that students who receive support for social and emotional learning in schools do better academically, socially, and behaviorally.

Social-emotional learning also has been shown to positively impact economic mobility and mental health outcomes. Developing these skills in our students is an important part of meeting the needs of the whole child (ODE). These sessions will take a deeper dive into ways to support social-emotional learning using concepts within multi-tiered structures and other resources including, Beyond Behavior Management: The Six Life Skills Children Need, written by Jenna Bilmes.  These sessions will engage participants in reflection of current core instruction in the area of social-emotional learning and provide resources to support the application of new strategies to support ALL students including those with the most challenging behaviors.

Participants will share personal challenges and engage in networking with colleagues to develop strategies to improve social competence in children. Participants must attend all 3 sessions to receive hours.

Registering for Session I will register you for all sessions in this series.
