Ohio teachers of third-grade students who are on a reading improvement and monitoring plan or retained students now require special qualifications under the Third Grade Reading Guarantee. One way to fulfill the requirement is to pass the Praxis Teaching Reading: Elementary Education test. Information about the test can be found at http://www.ets.org/praxis/prepare/materials/5203. The Ohio State Board of Education has adopted the Praxis Teaching Reading: Elementary Education test for Ohio teachers or teacher candidates choosing the testing option within the Ohio Third Grade Reading Guarantee.
