Ohio's Annual Performance Reports related to postsecondary transition

The Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act of 2004 (IDEA) requires each state to develop an Annual Performance Report. This report evaluates the state's efforts to implement the requirements of IDEA. 

The Annual Performance Report includes annual targets and data for 17 indicators of special education program performance. Four of those indicators are related to youth with disabilities and their readiness for life, work and postsecondary education.

District Special Education Profiles and Performance Data

The department annually:

Develops a Special Education Profile for each district, displaying the district's performance on the indicators included in Ohio’s Annual Performance Report.

Reports to the public on the performance of each district's special education program. This annual report includes the state’s targets for each indicator and each district’s performance compared to those targets.

Collecting Data on Post-School Outcomes (SPP Indicator 14)

The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) requires that states report the post-school engagement of students with disabilities in post-secondary education and employment. Therefore, the Ohio Department of Education's Office for Exceptional Children is required to report the percentage of children with disabilities who, within one year of leaving high school, are enrolled in higher education, participating in a training program, or competitively employed.

IDEA requires that all school districts collect outcome data for their students with individualized education programs (IEPs). Ohio fulfills this obligation through the Exit Student Data Collection through EMIS, which is designed to collect information on students with disabilities post-school outcomes one year later.

OLTS Regional Reports- The Ohio Department of Education coordinates 16 regional teams that cover Ohio. Please click on the link to view your regional report.
